To All Connecticut Outdoorsman
November 2, 2015
As most know, the pheasant stocking program, funded by hunters purchasing tags for the privilege of harvesting, is under assault by Governor Malloy. In addition to the prospective loss of pheasant hunting in the state of Connecticut on public land, Governor Malloy proposes to shut down the Kensington Fish Hatchery.
Personally, I look forward to this time of year, enjoying the outdoors with my dogs and my husband, hiking through beautiful state forests and putting food on my table. Some of us are fortunate to belong to private clubs and simply may not care what happens on public lands.
But you should…..
Your rights to be an active individual, participating in an outdoor venue where YOU choose is slowly eroding away. Be assured, all other game hunting will be put to the test as so called budgets are balanced. The removal or massive restructuring of the DEEP would save the state millions while confining you to your home, removing your freedom to enjoy the outdoors while respectfully harvesting food for you and your family.
Here is the DEEP/Agriculture budget link:

If you belong to a club, band together; if you hunt with friends, write a joint letter. Send to your elected officials, Governor Malloy and an attorney or two.
There are organizations potentially capable of assisting us so we can protect our rights: NAVHDA and Pheasants Forever- write to them as well for guidance. We do not have a Pheasant Forever chapter, but they are willing to guide us.
Respectfully,
