Spring Clean Up Day April 27, 2019

Saturday April 27 th was the Putnam Fish and Game Spring Cleanup Day / Club Work Party.
Turnout was 30 plus members, the many hands made quick work of tackling the list of projects.
Several members brought their personal equipment to the club to aid in accomplishing these
tasks, we wish to thank them for their generosity.

Projects undertaken included:

  • General Spring cleanup on the grounds and outdoor ranges including leaf removal, clearing
brush, and getting things ship shape for the summer.
  • The Warning / No Trespassing sign posting program was completed with the exception of the swamp area which will have to wait for drier conditions or for a winter freeze.
  • Trees on the property that fell over the winter were harvested for firewood. This included bucking to length, transport to the woodshed, splitting and stacking. A big dent was made in next winter’s needs.
  • New rubber backstops were installed on the outdoor pistol range.
  • Target frames were repaired and constructed as needed on the outdoor rifle range.
  • Badly needed scraping and additional painting prep work was carried out on the club house foundation.
  • The indoor rifle range was rewired for future lighting and ventilation. Please note the ventilation system now operates the same as the indoor pistol range. The timer switch is located by the downrange light switches.
  • Six yards of gravel were spread and graded to fill the many potholes and ruts in the club driveway.

At noon, members were treated to a cookout with grilled hamburgers, hot dogs and all the fixings.

More Work Parties are being planned. If you missed this one, future days will be a great way to get some additional work hours in.

As a reminder, anyone looking to work some hours towards their yearly total is encouraged to contact any of the Trustees, Dick Allard, Al Dabrowski, or Bill Celko. There are plenty of projects to work on, they’ll be most happy to explain what needs to be done and help you get started.

The Spring Work Party was a big success, many thanks to all members that helped to make it so.
